Hello MOBAHub! It's Tuesday, so get ready for another "My take" on a free champion in LoL this week. My choice this week is actually important, because I realized the past champions iv'e been doing have been "harder" then most people are used to, and i got a comment from a friend saying i should focus more on some of the better starting characters, rather then the harder ones. So for this week, we're gonna go back in time a bit to one of the original champions of the League. Meet Zilean, the chronokeeper.
Zilean is a mage / support character with alot of kick to his spells. He's focused around time magic, and iv'e always liked the idea of controlling time. Now, you cant literally REWIND time, but you can do alot of cool things with Zilean. For items, you want to focus alot on Cooldown reduction and Ability Power, like any other mage. (except ryze, DAMN YOU RYZE) Now lets take a detailed look at all of Zilean's abilities.
Zilean's passive is Heightened Learning, everyone on your team gains an extra 8% EXP, permanently. Alot of people overlook this ability, but there's only 3 ways to increase the ammount of EXP u gain: Quints, Masteries, and THIS GUY! I love this passive, and its part of why i classify Zilean as a support, it helps everyone on your team, no matter where they are. I give Heightened Learning a 7/10, who DOESN'T love more EXP?
Zilean's Q is Time Bomb, he places a bomb on target ally or enemy, and after 4 seconds, the bomb explodes, hurting all enemies around the explosion. This move is why Zilean is so annoying, he puts it on you and the only thing going through your head is "damnit!". It's like Karthus's ultimate, you know the damage is coming, but theres nothing you can do about it, it's GONNA happen. you can also put it on allies that are in a fight to make the enemy think twice about trying to kill your partner, because if the target of your Time Bomb dies prematurely, the explosion goes off when they die. try putting it on your minions before they die, it pisses people off so much. Time Bomb gets a 9/10, amazing damage, and it can combo! more on that in this section.
Zilean's W is Rewind, and it reduces all of your cooldowns by 10 seconds when you activate it. This skill has so many uses... use it on Time Bomb to get 2 bombs on one target, causing the first one to explode immediately, use it on your E to speed or slow down more enemies, use it on your ult... because of the ridiculously long cooldown. It's a key skill for zilean, and the Time Bomb > Rewind > Time Bomb combo is all of your damage at once, talk about PAIN! Rewind gets a 7/10, really good move, can't really complain about it.
Zilean's E is Time Warp, a speed up / slow down that targets one person. On an ally, it speeds them up by 55%, and on enemies its the same amount in slow. Really good for keeping someone set up for your team. and saving various asses. the more points in the skill, the longer the duration. Overall, not much can be said about this skill, its just a slow / speed up, but its important to your play style, so Time Warp gets a 8/10.
And now for one of my personal favorite ultimates! Zilean's R is Chronoshift. You place a protective rune on an allied champion that lasts 7 seconds, and if the champion should die during this time, they come back to life, just like a guardians angel! This is good for a multitude of uses, such as Baiting, Initiating, Saving asses, or Turret diving. It's not to spectacular since it's been nerfed from its former glory of like 10 seconds, but nonetheless, i still give Chronoshift a 9.5/10, one of my favorite skills in the game.
Zilean is really underated, but put in the right hands, can be devastating. He's your favorite ally, and your worst enemy. I would be willing to put Zilean in my top 5 most hated enemies in lane, that bomb... well, I hope you all enjoyed my review of Zilean, the Chronokeeper, and don't be afraid to give me some feedback, I do this for you guys, so if theres something you want done, don't hesitate to ask! Now show your enemies that just because your old doesn't mean you cant put them whipper snappers in the place! (i really wish he talked like that...)
