My take on: Cho'Gath, the Terror of the Void

Alright guys, it's Tuesday again, which means it's time for a "My take" on a free champion this week on League of Legends. There are alot of good picks this week, like Annie, Ashe, and Amumu (which all start with "A" ironically) but i decided to give in to a soft spot of mine. So brace yourselves, were diving into Hell itself to talk about LoL's most demonic champion: Cho'Gath, the Terror of the Void.

Cho'Gath can be played as a tank, AP, or a hybrid, so he fills alot of rolls. there's some debate as to which one is  "better" but they all work well if you know how to do it. He can also jungle very well apparently, although i've never done it myself (but i have seen it work). His abilities are very CC heavy (Crowd Control is something that makes you lose some or all control of your character, examples are stuns, fears, slows, knock ups, silences, snares) which makes him a very good overall champion, but his cool downs are pretty big, so cooldown reduction is recommended. Now lets get inside the belly of this beast and talk about his skills.

Cho'Gath's Passive, Carnivore, allows him to heal for killing an enemy target, be it minion or champion. This is where Cho's incredible survivability comes from, all he has to do is last hit minions and he heals all the enemy harassment he wants. It's not too noticeable later on, but its definitely still there, and it still helps no matter how far into the game you go. This passive is better then alot of other passives though, so it gets a 7/10.

Cho'Gath's Q ability is Rupture. After casting the spell, there is a slight delay, and then spikes come up and knock up any enemy in the area, slowing them when they fall. This is one of my favorite moves in the game, because it hurts like a BITCH, looks awesome, and on top of all that, the range to cast is HUGE! This is your primary move, and is part of the reason AP works on him. because of great CC, damage, and range, this skill gets an 8/10, definitely a bread and butter move.

Cho'Gath's W ability is Feral Scream, a cone shaped AoE that silences and damages all enemies it hits. Some people straight up ignore this spell, but were better then that! The good part about this spell is the fact that it silences, which makes it so you cant cast any spells or abilities. Now imagine making an entire team unable to cast anything... yeah, don't worry, I laughed too. So, ridiculous silence, good damage, and the fact that its AoE, Feral Scream gets a 6/10.

Cho'Gath's E ability is Vorpal Spikes, a toggle ability that gives his auto attacks a weird property. With this ability toggled on, your auto attacks shoot a line of spikes in front of you, dealing AP damage to all that get hit. Really good for farming and harassment, enemies are afraid to get close for fear of spikes in there face. and at later levels, your auto attacks nearly double in damage! Throw some attack speed on him, and you've got yourself a sea of spikes. because of overall usefulness in laning, teamfights, and harassment, Vorpal Spikes gets a 7/10. Just be sure to turn it off around towers, those spikes will grab tower aggro if they hit a champ!

Last, but not even close to least, Cho'Gath's ultimate is Feast. Basically, you walk up to target minion / champion, and EAT IT. Yes, you literally eat the enemy, you NOMNOMNOM and everything. It hurts worse then anything else he has, and to top it off, its True damage, which means it cant be blocked by armor or magic resist. What could possibly make this better you ask? Anytime you kill a target with this move, you gain bonus HP, permanently, up to 6 stacks worth. at 150HP per stack, that's 900 HP for nothing but a skill! so, for survivability, damage, and the fact that it ignores all resistances (and the fact that you literally NOM people to death) Feast gets a 8.5/10, the only issue is the range, but its understandable considering what it is your doing.

The void champions have always had a soft spot in my heart. Cho'Gath was actually one of the very first characters I ever bought (the first being Annie). Granted, i was terrible with him, but now he evens out my champion picks with his big, red, bobbing tail... what did you think i was gonna say? I hope my guide helps you to get an idea of what Cho'Gath does, and I hope that you have fun playing the Terror of the Void. Just don't bite off more then you can chew... I should really stop these corny jokes...
